Danny Housley – Contributing Writer & Community Leader
Danny is pleased to be a proud member of the ILWAD army. He was diagnosed as being low vision around the time he could walk. The lack of vision, however, never stopped his love of reading and writing. Danny excelled in school and developed a passion for language, going on to earn a BA and MA in Applied Linguistics. He is active in the arts working in the Atlanta area as a dramaturg, dialect coach and stage manager.
Danny has been working with disABILITY LINK, a Center for Independent Living serving 12 counties in the Metro Atlanta Area, for a year. He started off as a member of their board of directors and then made the move to working directly in the Center. He currently manages the social media presence of the Center as well as doing Information and Referrals, one of the core services of disABILITY LINK. Thanks to his social media job he has recently found a passion for video editing.
Being part of the Independent Living (IL) movement is empowering and fulfilling and he hopes to help share the message of IL with the ILWAD community. Danny has learned over the years how to be an effective self-advocate and is pleased to find a place to share stories and information with other friends, advocates and supporters.
