Melisa E. Clifton – Assistant Editor
Melisa is very excited about her opportunity to serve as an assistant editor for the ILWAD Army. She understands the challenges and changes that occur with the onset of a disability, but know that these can be used as motivation for positive moves in our lives. In a freak accident in 2002, her hand was crushed in a vehicle door, which resulted in her current condition – Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. However, she believes that if it had not been for this accident she would not have the drive and motivation she has today to help others through education.
Her true passions are knowledge and learning. She has received her Bachelors in Philosophy and her Masters in Instructional Systems from Florida State University. She will be applying to the Instructional Systems Doctoral program in the fall and hopes to translate her passion for knowledge and learning into instructional designs that will improve the cognitive load for disabled learners, specifically those who suffer with chronic pain.
When not busy with school, Melisa spends most of her time with her two daughters and grandson. She enjoys picnics with her family and watching them play in the park.
